HU Summer School at the Universidad de La Habana

The School of Business and Economics at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) offers an annual Summer School which takes place in Havana, Cuba in September/October every year. In close cooperation with the Universidad de La Habana, the Summer School offers a variety of business, economic, and German cultural courses which run for a duration of two weeks.

All students after their second semester of the Bachelor degree are welcome to apply, but please note that only students currently enrolled at HU are exempt from tuition fees. A total of 25 German students is the maximum number of participants.

Undergraduate courses, such as Environmental Economics, Developmental Economics, Game Theory, Foreign Trade, Math classes as well as graduate courses, such as Advanced Macroeconomics, Econometrics, and Finance are being offered. For each successful course the student receives 3 ECTS points. During the two weeks of summer school, it is manageable to reach 6-9 ECTS points. Exams are being taken during November in Berlin.

The deadline for the application for the scholarship of €400 is May 1st of each year.  For additional financing you can ask the WWG, the DAAD, and Auslandsbafög in a timely fashion.

The flight there and back is approximately €500-€800, depending on how early you manage to book your flight. Accomodation is rather cheap, approximately €10 per person per night is a usual price.
