Description
In this seminar we discuss recent research on economic geography and trade in the long-run. The focus is on developments in Europe compared to other regions of the world over the past 150 years. Topics include changing patterns of industrial agglomeration, urban growth and urban land use, and intra- and interregional trade costs and trade flows. The approach is based on theoretical models in urban economics, economic geography and trade theory, and structural estimation of such models using long-run data and historical case-studies.
