Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - International Office

Language Courses

Although the School of Business and Economics offers many courses in English, we recommend you to learn German. This is your chance to learn a language! The courses at the HU are not expensive at all (compared to external language schools). Use your opportunity to practice with native speakers in your everyday-life!

Study-accompanying German Language Course

The complementary language courses for exchange and programme students at the Humboldt University are offered at three levels: intermediate (Aufbaustufe B 1) upper-intermediate (Mittelstufe B 2), advanced (Oberstufe C 1) and specific courses for students of German literature and linguistics.

YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THE COURSES! You can find more information at the webpage of the Sprachenzentrum

Course credit points (or ECTS-points) are awarded at the language centre for successful participation in the courses. This involves regular attendance and obtaining pass grades in all required assignments and tests.

A maximum of 10 course credit or ECTS points can be awarded for successful participation in the language courses at the language centre.

Intensive German Language Course

For exchange students: The Intensive German Language Course is held every semester one month before the lectures at the HU start. Please note that the German language is not substituted within the EILC framework. Please find all relevant information here:

www.sprachenzentrum.hu-berlin.de/de/erasmus-deutsch-intensivkurse/

For degree students: Please find all relevant information here: www.sprachenzentrum.hu-berlin.de/studium_und_lehre-en/kursangebot-en/studienvorbereitende_kurse.htm

For everyone: The HU German Language Academy (HU GLA) at the Language Center of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin offers certified German as a Foreign Language (GFL) courses. The winter and summer courses cover German language levels A1.2-C2 and take place between the semesters. They are therefore especially suited for international participants who are not enrolled at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. More information:
