The Humboldt Summer School in Empirical Financial Accounting Research aims to bring together internationally-oriented, high-potential PhD students working in the area of empirical financial accounting to develop their research projects and skills.
Concept
The unique feature of the Summer School is its focus on improving students’ research output. The international faculty members will work closely with the PhD students on their projects before and during the event, thus providing them with guidance and expertise. At the end of the week the students will present their research project to Summer School participants for review and discussion. In addition, the Summer School provides students with excellent networking opportunities.
Course Program
The 4-day program will comprise presentations about research design and methodology, scientific writing as well as lectures on current topics and presentations of current research papers by faculty members. In addition, the faculty will have regular office hours to work with the participants on their respective research project. The students' presentations at the end of the program will also be used to discuss the do‘s and don‘ts of the academic job market.
Location
The Summer School will be held at the main building of the School of Business and Economics which is ideally located in the heart of Berlin-Mitte. This gives students the opportunity to explore some of Berlin exciting sites and venues when taking a well-deserved break from the demanding course program.
Funding Opportunities
There is a 200 € course fee to cover catering and meals during the event. In addition, participants are required to pay for accomodation and travel costs. We have secured some budget housing options within walking distance from the school. Thanks to sponsorship by the European Accounting Association and other partners, financial support is available to eligible students. Please contact us to inquire about your options.
