Hanne Böckem appointed honorary professor
Hanne Böckem, one of the leading experts in the field of (international) accounting, partner in the Department of Professional Practice, the general policy department of KPMG AG, and long-standing lecturer at our School, has been appointed as honorary professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
After obtaining her doctorate in 1999, Hanne Böckem began her professional career from 2000-2001 as a university assistant (C1) at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt (Main). During this time, she conducted research, in particular on practical regulatory issues in the European context using empirical methods, and completed research stays at London School of Economics and Political Science (with Prof. Michael Power) and Lancaster University (with Prof. Peter Pope).
Hanne Böckem is currently a partner at KPMG's Audit department. As a specialist for issues relating to IFRS and HGB accounting, she advises numerous audit and advisory mandates of almost all sizes and sectors. In addition, she is the author of numerous specialist publications and KPMG publications in the field of national and international accounting and is active, among other things, as a speaker at client events and in KPMG's internal training and continuing education program.
As a member of the specialist committee on corporate reporting (Fachausschuss Unternehmensberichterstattung, FAB) within the framework of the work of the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany (Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer, IDW), she is committed to practice-oriented standards training.
Hanne Böckem has been a highly successful lecturer at our School for many years. Her courses in the field of auditing and special topics of international accounting enrich the course program in the School's study programs and are excellently evaluated by the students. Her professional experience not only strengthens the quality of her practice-oriented teaching. As a successful woman in an unfortunately still strongly male-dominated environment, Hanne Böckem also serves as an important role model for our students.
The School is pleased to have gained such a proven expert as an honorary professor.
