Organization and Management (usually offered in the winterterm, syllabus in English)

Students get familiar with fundamental incentive and coordination problems in organizations. They learn how to identify and discuss these problems based on concepts from new institutional economics.

Topics: boundaries and structure of the firm, incentive contracts, ownership and property rights.

MA: 6 SP, Modul: "General Management" or "Field of Specialization Management" or "Management"

Exam: Written exam (90min)

 

Personnel Economics (usually offered in the summerterm, syllabus in English)

The course covers advanced topics from personnel economics such as monetary and non-monetary forms of motivation, problems of performance measurement, multitasking problems, delegation of authority, and career concerns.

MA: 6 SP, Modul: "Field of Specialization Management" or "Management"

Exam: Written exam (60 min) and presentation.

 

Incentives in Organizations (usually offered in the winterterm, syllabus in English)

Students get familiar with advanced problems of coordination and incentive provision within and between firms. They learn how to identify and discuss these problems based on concepts from organizational economics and contract theory.

Topics: incentive and coordination problems within and between firms: adverse selection, team problems, relational contracts, relative performance evaluation

MA: 6 SP, Modul: "Field of Specialization Management" or "Management"

Exam: Written exam (60min) and presentation

 

Advanced Topics in Management (usually offered in the summerterm)

Seminar. 6 SP

Specific current problems in personnel, managerial, and organizational economics with an eye on the master thesis

 

Masterthesis (general information)

Successful participation ( i.e., passed exam) in the following courses is required for writing a master thesis at the Chair of Management:

  • Organization and Management
  • Personnel Economics OR Incentives in Organizations

In addition, you are required to attend the seminar (possibly simultaneously with writing your master thesis)
