In some cases, your documentation may be incomplete. This is why you should submit your documentation to the Examination Board in good time to give us the opportunity to inform you and enable you to submit the missing documentation before the end of the application period. Documentation which does not arrive before the end of the application period  will not be taken into account.

Enter all the required information in the Online portal and print your entire online application. Send the application, including all required documentation, to the address on the cover letter within the application period.

The online application has a bar code. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration will scan this and will inform you via the online portal that your documents have been received by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and are being processed by the Examination Board.

Upon receipt of your documentation, the Examination Board will classify you for the higher semester according to your level of achievement. Please always enclose an overview of all your examination registrations for the current semester. This will allow us to correctly assess your level of achievement.

In accordance with the applicable Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin admission regulations, your level of achievement is assessed according to the applicable rules of the course and examination regulations of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In other words, we assess an applicant’s level of achievement for compulsory and elective courses by taking the number of credit points which would have been awarded for an equivalent course at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration into consideration. Please consult the module descriptions for the relevant courses for information on the number of credit points in compulsory and elective areas. If your previous university awarded a greater number of credit points for an equivalent course, you will forfeit them. This may result in being classified into a lower semester.

Classification in a higher semester does not represent recognition of your examination achievements. You will receive this recognition only upon successful enrolment - see below: ‘Important notes’

If you are applying for a master’s course in the higher semester, you must also enclose an officially certified copy of your first career-related university qualification. You must also enclose the proof required by the currently valid version of the HU admission regulations.

Following classification, all documentation will be forwarded to Student Services in the Humboldt-Universität admissions office. They will send you the decision regarding your admission or the rejection of your application.

No-one can provide you an admission prognosis before this point.

Are you an advanced student already registered at Humboldt-Universität wishing to transfer to another course, and have examination achievements which can be credited for your chosen new degree programme?

We also require an online application for the higher semester from you within the application period. Please send all required documentation to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Examination Board to enable them to classify you for the higher semester.

After classification for the higher semester, the documentation will be sent to the Humboldt-Universität admissions office. They will make a decision regarding your admission or the rejection of your application. The admissions office will send you the final decision.

No-one can provide you an admission prognosis before this point.

Important notes:

Admission to a course is subject to the applicant having fulfilled the admission requirements. This includes the case of an applicant who may have ultimately failed to pass any compulsory achievements or examinations at a university falling under the scope of the Framework Act for Higher Education under the legal provisions of said university.

If you have been awarded a place in the higher semester, contact the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration examinations office promptly after enrolment and submit your achievement certificate for recognition.  If your achievement certificate is not conclusive, present the relevant module descriptions as well.
