Language of study: compulspry courses in German; disciplinary compulsory elective courses are taught in German or English. The literature is mostly in English.

Overview study programme
 

The Bachelor's programme in Business Administration offers a comprehensive, fundamental education in economic and business science with a quantitative-methodological orientation. In the higher semester there is the opportunity to specialize in the elective subject area. The  study is supplemented by the interdisciplinary elective area, in which the opportunity is given to study modules at other faculties of the HU, to deepen one's knowledge of languages or to learn new ones, to take vocational preparation courses at the Career Center or to complete an internship. The Bachelor's thesis completes the course of study.

Application

The prerequisities for study are a general or restricted university admission qualification.

Applications for the first semester of the Bachelor's programme in Business Administration must be submitted within the period from 1 June to 15 July of the year. Further links:

The application for a higher semester (university change/cross entry) can be made for the winter semester (deadline: 1 June to 15 July of the year) or for the summer semester (deadline: 1 December to 15 Janurar of the year). Further information on placement in a higher semester can be found on the homepage of the examination office.

Disciplinary Compulsory Elective Area (54 LP):

At least 24 LP are to be choses from the Disciplinary Compulsory Elective Modules in Business Administration. The following areas can be chosen:

 

  • Taxation and Tax Management Studies
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Financial Economics
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Information Systems

 

In addition at least 30 LP are to be chosen from modules offered by the School of Economics and Business Administration (Economics, Business Administration, Quantitative Methods). This area is very well suited for the recognition of modules with economic science content (eg from a semester abroad).

If more than 24 LP are completed in Business Administration modules, area C is reduced accordingly.

 

Interdisciplinary Compulsory Elective Area (ÜWP, 25 LP - ungraded):

Interdisciplinary Compulsory Elective Area has a volume of 25 credit points. If grades are obtained, they are not taken into account in the calculation of the overall score. The following are eligible for this area:

 

  • Interdisciplinary Compulsory Elective modules of other faculties at HU
  • Language courses of the language centre (except language courses in the respective mother tongue or official language of the home country as well as German courses for foreigners under the level C1 GER)
  • Courses of the Career Centre (excluding introductory courses in economics and law)
  • Interdisciplinary and professional courses from other universities
  • Interdisciplinary and professional courses from abroad
  • Internship (at least 6 weeks full-time, 10 credits)

Additional information for the internship:

The internship must be related to the subject of study, which must be explained in an accompanying letter (approx. 2 pages). In addition, an internship certificate (task description, duration of the internship and weekly working hours) must be submitted to the examination office. The internship must have a duration of at least 6 weeks full-time. "Full time" can vary in the companies, in some companies "full time" is also 38 h or 39 h per week. An internship of at least 12 weeks with half of the regular full-time working time is also recognized. The internship must be completed during your studies. A completed commercial apprenticeship is also recognised as an internship.

Employment contracts as student assistants in universities or scientific research institutions are not counted as internships.


Additional information for the Bachelor thesis:

In the Bachelor's thesis, the students prove that they are able to work on a topic from their specialist area independently and scientifically. The deadline for writing the bachelor thesis is 60 calendar days. As a rule, the thesis should have a length of 60,000 characters without spaces (approx. 25 - 30 pages without appendix).

The application documents for the Bachelor's thesis are available at the Student Office. Admission to the Bachelor's thesis is granted when all compulsory modules have been passed and the requirements defined by the examiner have been met.

Procedure: You can pick up the registration documents at the Student Office. On the registration form, the examiner will note and sign the topic to be worked on and the date of the topic issue. This registration must then be submitted immediately to the examination or study office. Afterwards you will be informed in writing about the registration and all related deadlines.
