HUWISU Humboldt Winter and Summer University

The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin offers summer, winter and spring schools to internatioanl students from all around the world! During the semester breaks, the university offers an intense program for students from abroad, which gives them the opportunity to explore the university, the city and its inhabitants. Throughout the last few years, many students from all over the world have studied together, made lasting friendships and had unforgettable experiences, that only Berlin can offer. International Summer School in Economics and Management (ISSEM) in Havana, Cuba

The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Universidad de La Habana are proud to host this year the 17th edition of the International Summer School in Economics and Management in Havana, Cuba. Students from all over the world are invited to participate.

During the two-week program of the summer school, graduate and undergraduate students from around the world have the opportunity to attend courses taught by professors from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and other reputable institutions. We offer a variety of interesting courses in different sectors of economics and business, such as Development Economics, Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship. In Cuba’s capital Havana international students are given the opportunity to work on frequently discussed topics that are especially interesting and relevant in this international context. The courses will be taught in English and accredited with ECTS points. The exams will take place at the end of the summer school.

Alongside the academic part of our program, we provide an intense intercultural exchange between European and Cuban students. On weekends and after class, you are invited to attend numerous cultural events and activities such as a Cuban movie night, concerts, sports competitions and excursions.

Tuition Waiver

Some of our partner universities offer a couple of tuition waivers for HU students. If you are interested, here are a couple of things worth noting:

  • The application for the tuition waiver is at the HU (not directly at the partner university)
  • Summer Schools usually take place during the first exams period of our summer term. If you are applying for a tuition waiver, make sure that you take more seminars during the term or take all your exams in the second exams term only.
  • The offers do not include travel costs, housing and personal expenses.
  • After the confirmation for the tuition waiver, you will need to apply/register at the partner university.
  • They hold two sessions a month from June to September 2018.

Hong Kong, HKUST International Summer Exchange Program (ISP): 17 June to 10 August 2019, the program is open to exchange partners only, wide range of credit-bearing courses and organize local excursions and activities for students to gain insight into the Asian culture, more information: http://studyabroad.ust.hk/isp

TUITION WAIVER 2019: Singapore Management University Summer School

The Singapore Management University (SMU) offered us 4 spots in their summer school. The Global Summer Programme 2019 is a 4-week intensive program focusing on Business, Innovation and Society in Asia, offering a suite of elective and enrichment courses designed to augment students' knowledge and practical skills about Asia in general, through the use of real-life case studies and examples.

The usual cost for this program is 5.350 S$ (ca. 3.500 EUR) - if you get nominated by the Humboldt-Universität, you will get it FOR FREE! The SMU will assist in finding housing, please calculate costs of about 800-000 S$ (ca. 520-650 EUR) for housing.

The SMU is one of the most renowned universities and their summer schools are very popular among students around the world. You can find more detailed information about the program here:

  • Sweden, Linköping University Summer Academy 2019, 28 june - 27 July 2019: All courses are at bachelor's level, credit bearing (7.5 ECTS), will be taught in English and are full-time.   • Finland, Aalto University School of Business: The Information Technology Program (ITP) running from May 27 to August 30, 2019 bears 24-30 ECTS. The program includes subjects such as service design, digital marketing, web analytics, and data-driven decision making. In addition, student work on an intensive real-life business project.   • Switzerland, Universität St. Gallen, Global School in Empirical Research Methods for Master and phd students, 3 - 21 June 2019: www.gserm.ch/stgallen.
  • Switzerland, Zurich, UZH International Summer School for Bachelor and Master students 2019, June 30 - July 19.   • Spanien, Barcelona, Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona International Summer School 2019: July 1st - 26th. The summer school is run a flagship program to improve the curriculum of both domestic and international undergraduate students during the summer term in Barcelona. Subjects have been conceived as an invitation to think and learn beyond and across disciplines, while approaching social and scientific challenges from content, methodological and practical perspectives.   • Peru, Universidad del Pacífico in Lima: Summer Program taking place May 18th -June 23rd 2019. The program entails a mix of advance Spanish classes, introduction to Latin American literature, national culture and politics in Peru and much more.   • USA, Bentley University: the 15th International Summer Institute at Bentley (ISIB) is taking place from July 8th to July 29th 2019. Deadline for applications is the 15th April, 2019. The Bentley campus is located near downtown Boston, the ISIB provides participants an opportunity to learn key prevailing business trends and issues through academic seminars, company visit and meetings with business executives. If the school dates conflict with the WIWI exam period, they will consider hosting you for 1 or 2 weeks instead of 3. The tuition fees cover approximately 60 hours of instruction, reading materials, housing, all meals, a guided sightseeing tour of Boston, a one-day excursion to one of the beaches in Massachusetts and a two-night stay in New York City, which includes hotel accommodation, a guided sightseeing tour of New York and a Broadway show.   • Korea, Korea University International Summer Campus 2019 runs a 4week-session from June 25th to July 18th AND a 6week-session from June 25th to August 1st 2019. They offer up to 120 courses across 10 academic fields of stuy that range from international business, strategic management to business ethics or investement analyis.   • Taiwan, Taipei, National Taiwan University Summer Program 2019: July 8th - August 3rnd 2019. 500 USD discount for HU students! This annual 4-week summer program is organized by the College of Management and is conducted compeletly in English. The goal is to help students explore human values, formulating business strategies, and develop technological platforms for sustainability and innovation.   • USA, The Summer Business, Finance and Management Program in New-York


    WIWI students are entitled to 50% special scholarship and discount ($1,225 instead of $2,450) on the 3-Week Summer program in Business & Finance in New York.

  1. In oder for students to benefit from the special discount, they need to identify themselves as students enrolled at the HU School of Economics and Business.
