Summer Schools

HU Summer School at the Universidad de La Habana

The School of Business and Economics at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) offers an annual Summer School which takes place in Havana, Cuba in September/October every year. In close cooperation with the Universidad de La Habana, the Summer School offers a variety of business, economic, and German cultural courses which run for a duration of two weeks.

All students after their second semester of the Bachelor degree are welcome to apply. A total of around 50 German students and 250 Cuban students is the total number of participants.

Undergraduate courses, such as Developmental Economics, Game Theory, International Economic Integration as well as graduate courses, such as Panel Data Econometrics, and Finance are being offered. For each successful course the student receives 3 ECTS points. During the two weeks of summer school, it is manageable to reach 6-9 ECTS points. Exams are being taken on the last day of the summer school in Havana.

The application deadline is in the beginning of June each year, the participation fee is €450 for all students. For additional financing you can ask the WWG, the DAAD, and Auslandsbafög in a timely fashion. There is a limited amount of fee waivers for students who are willing to support the ISSEM Team in Havana during the Summer School.

The flight there and back is approximately €500-600, depending on how early you manage to book your flight. Accomodation is approximately €15 per person per night for a shared room.

HUWISU Humboldt Winter and Summer University

The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin offers summer, winter and spring schools to internatioanl students from all around the world! During the semester breaks, the university offers an intense program for students from abroad, which gives them the opportunity to explore the university, the city and its inhabitants. Tuition Waiver

Some of our partner universities offer a couple of tuition waivers for HU students. If you are interested, here are a couple of things worth noting:

  • The application for the tuition waiver is at the HU (not directly at the partner university)
  • Summer Schools usually take place during the first exams period of our summer term. If you are applying for a tuition waiver, make sure that you take more seminars during the term or take all your exams in the second exams term only.
  • The offers do not include travel costs, housing and personal expenses.
  • After the confirmation for the tuition waiver, you will need to apply/register at the partner university.
  • They hold two sessions a month from June to September 2018.


TUITION WAIVER 2018: The Summer Business, Finance and Management Program in New-York


WIWI students are entitled to 50% special scholarship and discount ($1,225 instead of $2,450) on the 3-Week Summer program in Business & Finance in New York.


  • In oder for students to benefit from the special discount, they need to identify themselves as students enrolled at the HU School of Economics and Business.

  • The best time to look for accommodation in New-York is 2 to 4 weeks before the arrival date. The BFMS Team will help you searching for an accommodation after registration and match you with a network of professionals in New-York.

TUITION WAIVER 2018: Singapore Management University Summer School

The Singapore Management University (SMU) offered us two spots in their summer school. The Global Summer Programme 2018 is a 4-week intensive program focusing on Business, Innovation and Society in Asia, offering a suite of elective and enrichment courses designed to augment students' knowledge and practical skills about Asia in general, through the use of real-life case studies and examples.

The usual cost for this program is 5.350 S$ (ca. 3.500 EUR) - if you get nominated by the Humboldt-Universität, you will get it FOR FREE! The SMU will assist in finding housing, please calculate costs of about 800-000 S$ (ca. 520-650 EUR) for housing.

The SMU is one of the most renowned universities and their summer schools are very popular among students around the world. You can find more detailed information about the program here:

TUITION WAIVER 2018: King's College London Summer School

The King's College in Londern gave us 5 spots for their undergraduate summer school! You can chose from various modues, such as "International Business", "War & Diplomacy" or "Global Health and Social Justice". Normally, this would cost £1,590. If you sucessfully apply through the HU, you may save this money.

The application for the tuition waiver is with the central international office. The deadline is 30. April 2018. More information here:

Tuition Waiver 2017: "Doing Business in Russia: International Perspective"

The Graduate School of Economics and Management (GSEM) at the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg, Russia organizes a summer school for for students interested in:

  • Working in partnership with Russian companies
  • Working in Russian global corporations or medium-sized businesses
  • Opening an enterprise in Russia or jointly with a Russian partner company
This program includes lectures, master classes and case studies dedicated to Russian business specifics, as well as a number of field visits to international corporate partners of GSEM that are working in Russia, innovation enterprises and Model Factory of McKinsey & Ural Federal University. A visit to the main industrial exhibition in Russia – International Trade Fair INNOPROM is also a part of the programme.
  • Course period: 10 to 21 July 2017
  • Eligibility: the course is aimed at senior undergraduate students and master students, but all interested applicants are welcome
  • Credits: students will obtain 6 ECST upon successful completeion of the School.

  • Canada, Toronto: Summer School ABC Business Academy 2018: the business-oriented summer school programme operates under the auspices of academic mentors and entrepreneurs who are co-creating the syllabus of the programme.
