Professor Dr. Michael Wolffsohn

"Political X-ray or how to recognize and resolve conflicts"

Professor Dr. Michael Wolffsohn is Professor Emeritus of Modern History at the Universität der Bundeswehr München. He is one of the leading experts in the analysis of international politics. His book "Deutschjüdische Glückskinder: Eine Weltgeschichte meiner Familie", published in 2017, became Spiegel bestseller. In addition to numerous awards such as the Bundesverdienstkreuz, Ehrenpreis der Deutsch-Israelischen Gesellschaft Aachen e.V. and the Konrad-Adenauer-Preis für Wissenschaft, he was voted Professor of the Year by the Deutsche Hochschulverband in 2017.

In his lecture, Michael Wolffsohn deals with intra- and international conflicts, the threat of terrorism, civil wars and the increasing disintegration of states and asks why peace policy at the highest level does not lead to a solution. He argues that the model of the nation-state is outdated, and instead pleads for a radical rethink - away from the traditional state model and to federal systems.
