Many roads lead to Rome. Or would you prefer to Copenhagen? If you want to spend one or two semesters abroad, there are many different ways to get there.

The most common way is to go for an exchange semester via a direct agreement with one of our partner universities. The advantage of an exchange program is that you do not need to pay tuition fees at your host university. With the ERASMUS and Swiss Mobility Programs, you can touch a monthly allowance during your stay abroad. You can find more advice on scholarships and othe rsources of funding under the service point "Financing".

Erasmus - the European exchange program

For many, Erasmus has become a synonym for student stays abroad. The Humboldt University of Berlin has participated in the European mobility program ERASMUS since 1991 over the years has supported more than 10,000 students with their stays abroad. On the following pages you will find more information.

Faculty agreements - exclusive exchange opportunities for Wiwis

In addition to the opportunities of the Erasmus+ program, the School of Business and Economics maintains numerous partnership agreements with universities outside Europe. These partnerships are exclusively open to WiWi students and offer the possibility of study abroad at selected universities with which our faculty members maintain close relations.

University agreements - HU partner universities worldwide

For further information on the university-wide agreements (open to all HU students) turn to the central outgoing team at the HU Department of International Affairs

Summer Schools - Short-term programs

Summer schools offer an opportunity to study for a short time at a prestigious university abroad. Summer schools generally take 2-4 weeks and bring you up to 10 ECTS. Please note: for most Summer schools you will need to pay tuition fees. Please refer to the section about "Financing" for funding opportunities.

We have prepared a list of summer schools at our partner universities which we can recommend to facilitate your research.

Internships - Gather international work experience!

Another exciting alternative to studying abroad is an internship. You can simultaneously expand your language skills, gain practical work experience and get to know the working environment of a foreign country.

ERASMUS - placements in other European countries

Your internship can be promoted under the Erasmus+ program with a travel allowance. The Erasmus Placement team at the Department of Internationa Affairs will happily assist you in preparing your application and stay: www.international.hu-berlin.de/de/studierende/ins-ausland/praktikum

PROMOS - internships and language courses abroad

Twice a year, HU awards short-term scholarships in the PROMOS program for semester stays and internships outside the ERASMUS area as well as language courses and research stays in Europe and worldwide.
