The Humboldt-Forum Wirtschaft e.V. cordially invites you to the 22nd Humboldt Symposium at the School of Business and Economics of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, entitled "War & Peace: Economics of the Future" on May 31, 2023.

The past year was a great wake-up call for Europe and Western society in general. In February 2022, something unimaginable happened - Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2014, reached its climax when Russia unabashedly and directly sent its military to occupy Kiev.

The political reality created by the Helsinki Accords was shattered. This major geopolitical event forces us to ask questions about Europe's future security and prosperity, to examine the political and economic decisions that brought us here, and to ask how global logistics and businesses might be affected.

We invite experts to moderate the debate on three key issues:

• the (economic) interdependence between democracies and autocracies;
• the potential for future local and global conflict due to resource insecurity, climate change, and instability;
• re-examining the likelihood of wars in the future and assessing whether the European Union and Germany are truly prepared for such events.

We would like to discuss these and similar questions with leading experts and invite students and other interested parties to participate in this discussion.

At the same time, our symposium should also be an opportunity for young, ambitious people to gain an insight into the careers and wealth of experience of decision-makers from business, politics and society.
