Dr. Matthias Eckardt Granted a Walter Benjamin Fellowship of the DFG

Dr. Matthias Eckardt granted a Walter Benjamin Fellowship of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft from 2021 to 2023:

Beyond scalar-valued marks – Statistical analysis of object-valued marked spatial point processes (Walter Benjamin Fellowship)

The analysis of random spatial point configurations is becoming increasingly important in scientific research as well as in practice. In addition to the simple point pattern, so-called marked point patterns, in which a mark (a point attribute) is observed in addition to each point location, represent a particular methodological challenge. Existing statistical methods for the analysis of (marked) point patterns, however, remain limited to the case of scalar point attributes. The approved project extends these methods and is dedicated to the development of statistical methodology for the analysis of more complex spatial point patterns, with the help of which object-valued marked point patterns can be subjected to rigorous statistical analysis.
