Our position for tolerance – and against racism
Current protests against racism in the USA and elsewhere in the world are a painful reminder that the elimination of all forms of discrimination against minorities is also a challenge facing Germany. The School of Business and Economics at Humboldt-Universität Berlin is fully committed to a spirit of tolerance of our many differences and rejects discrimination in all its forms.
The by-laws of the Humboldt-Universität strive to establish a discrimination-free environment for all its members and overcome all disadvantages that stem from past and present racist behavior. To meet these goals, a critical and engaged discussion is required to identify and understand the sources of discrimination against minorities, in particular in a university setting.
All of us need to ask ourselves whether our work and our daily lives are influenced by spoken or unspoken prejudices, and to be mindful to show fairness and respect in all our interactions. We commit to do this for all individuals, regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, physical handicap or chronic illness, due to social status or origin, political, religious, ethnic, racial or other reasons.
