Learning Agreement

What

The Learning Agreement is a document that defines the learning objectives of your semester abroad. In particular, it includes a list of the courses you wish to take during the mobility period. A completed Learning Agreement should also include the equivalent courses that you wish to have recognised at your home university. This document is particularly important for Erasmus students, whereas most universities require anyway their students abroad to complete a form of Learning Agreement.

When

You must send us the Learning Agreement for signature before the start of the lecture period (mid-October for the winter semester and mid-April for the summer semester).
It is allowed for you to amend your Learning Agreement up to three weeks after the start of the lecture period. After that, it is in your own interest not to make any further changes to the Learning Agreement so that you have attended enough lectures before taking the exams.

How

We support the EWP programme (Erasmus without papers), which means that we prefer the submission of the Learning Agreement via the OLA (Online Learning Agreement) portal.

If your university does not use the OLA portal or you are not an Erasmus student, please contact your home university to obtain a Learning Agreement form.

You can find out which courses you are allowed to take on the course selection page.

You should also pay attention to the following conditions:

  • In principle, you are not entitled to attend courses at other faculties and/or universities. If you would still like to apply for this, please have the course attendance approved via e-mail by our Head of Studies and International Affairs (Dr. Anja Schwerk schwerk@wiwi.hu-berlin.de) and by the administrative or academic coordinators from the other faculty/university.
  • the internal courses (courses at the Faculty of Business and Economics) shall not account for less than 50% of the chosen course load
  • Language courses, Berlin Perspective Programme courses and Career Centre courses are considered neither internal nor external courses, i.e. they are excluded from the ratio
  • the Faculty of Business and Economics does not set a minimum or maximum number of ECTS credits that you should achieve. However, we recommend that you do not achieve more than 30 ECTS credits, otherwise the workload would be too heavy.

Please note that your home university may have additional/different conditions/deadlines in force, which you should also comply with.
