Course selection
Our faculty offers two Bachelor degree programmes and five Master degree programmes.
Exchange students may take any of the courses offered that correspond to their personal interests and academic requirements, irrespective of the degree programme and whether they are compulsory or elective courses.
These conditions are given anyway:
- the course selection should fulfil the requirements of the student's own degree programme at the home university
- the language and academic requirements of the individual courses should be met
- Bachelor's students may take Master's courses only with the written consent (e-mail is sufficient) of the lecturer
- Master's students may take Bachelor's courses without restriction, but it is strongly recommended to check whether these are then recognised at the home university
The courses can be in the form of a lecture, a seminar or an tutorial. Lectures and tutorials generally do not require registration/enrolment and attendance is not compulsory. For seminars, on the other hand, registration/enrolment and attendance are compulsory.
Most courses are worth 6 credit points (LP, 'Leistungspunkte' in German- based on the European Credit Transfer System or ECTS).
The course catalogue can be found on our AGNES portal. There you will find the most important information (course type, course level, examination modality, if seminar: registration modality, ECTS points, etc.). Please make sure that the correct semester (winter/summer) is displayed at the top left corner and enter 'Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät' (‘Faculty of Economics’ in German) under ‘Department’ in the search window. Here is a guide on how to use AGNES.
You may also take courses from the Berlin Perspectives programme. However, you will need to register for these courses in good time. For more information on this, please contact Humboldt International Campus - HIC.
Finally, you may also attend language courses at our Language Centre. If you would like to take courses at other faculties or even at other universities in Berlin, this is only possible under certain conditions (see ‘Learning Agreement’).
