HANIEL-guest-professorship

The purpose of the (HANIEL Foundation) is to promote the will to achieve and the courage to engage in entrepreneurial activities in a socially responsible manner.

In this context the HANIEL Stiftung works on the following principles:

  • Initiating innovation
  • Creating links
  • Communicating a world vision
  • Stimulating thought

According to its statues, the principal objectives of the HANIEL Stiftung are

  • to promote young talents for the challenges of the international business world,
  • to promote closer links within Europe in the fields of culture, education, economics, and politics,
  • and to put issues of economic activity and policy on the agenda in the public arena and in the field of education.

Current topics in the fields of society, politics, and economics will be discussed at events of the .

In September 2000, the " Guest Professorship for Entrepreneurship" was founded at the School of Business and Economics of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin by a generous grant from the .


HANIEL Guest Professorship

In the context of the guest professorship, scientists are to be won for temporary stays at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin who have dealt with the subject of entrepreneurship very intensively and are therefore suitable for extending the students´ knowledge on the one hand, and for fertilizing the research on professors´ and assistants´ level, on the other hand.

Focal points of these guest scientists comprised the history of entrepreneurship, the research concerning the personality of entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial decision behavior, the meaning of entrepreneurship in the economic process, in particular for the generation and penetration of innovations, as well as guidance techniques and organizational questions.

With respect to teaching, students were introduced to entrepreneurial questions and their solutions. Furthermore, basic insights into the genesis and the implications of entrepreneurship were imparted.

With respect to research, common projects of scientists of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and guest scientists were conducted. Joint publications were the center of their cooperation.

In order to meet the goals of the guest professorship, an intensive integration of the guest scientist in the teaching and research activities of the Business School was essential.
