Web usage mining investigates navigational behaviour
on the Web and in other hypermedia, query mining investigates the
inputs (in particular, search queries) that users give while
navigating; the combination of these methods therefore gives good
insights into information search. We have developed methods for finding
patterns in these two kinds of active user behaviour, and we have
evaluated and improved methods for the data preparation needed for this
